Dreams Not Yet Deferred.

On the current state of my mental (an AAPI woman, mother, citizen in America 2023)

Authors collection

I am

A crab in a bucket.

At H Mart and Joong Boo I watch the blue ones climb

Over and over on top of one another.

Slowly… aimlessly…never looking…never determined…just morbidly, stupidly, mindlessly…

Sabotage.

For AAPIs sometimes, we present more like the seafood already deceased. Out on display,

Beautifully.

Yet dead as fuck inside.

The gleam of corporate success.

The lure of a glamorous glow, a lithe lifestyle, a beautiful cosmo.

But leave no doubt.

We’ve turned on one another and ourselves.

We’ve lost more than we’ve gained.

But we would rather die than ever say such a thing.

Crab in a bucket.

I’m a crab in a bucket.

I’m a beautifully packaged array of sashimi.

Sliced by only the finest knives.

Murdered by my own in a desire to sell quickly
