Father’s Day
That’s (not) just my baby daddy. Cheers to you Dads. You’re awesome.
I am a mom and a bonus mom. All together, I have been blessed to be part of three kids’ lives. And, I’m a daughter.
Today in the United States it is Father’s Day.
To my littlest one’s dad, Happy Father’s Day! Thank you for going half on our kiddo.
To my bonus kids’ dad, Happy Father’s Day! You’re one hell of a man.
To my dad; thanks for everything. Thanks for putting a spin of humor and practical insight on so many things in life. Thank you for helping ease the journey through life and for taking me into the fold. Thanks for sending hilarious memes to break up the traumatic shit in life when I am reaching hysteria from four states away. Thanks for having so many cool, civilized, calm, even tempered, intellectual discussions with me — you, the Baptist ordained white man minister, and me, your Democrat, single mom, community-organizing, at times rather direct spoken daughter. Thanks for teaching me diplomacy and firm kindness in action.
Thanks for the weird last name that throws everyone off. Thanks for putting your country’s flag up every year on my birthday as a kid and trying to pass me off as Irish. You are hilarious and I couldn’t have asked for a cooler dad. Thanks for unlearning a lot of life as an adoptive family with me throughout the years. Thanks for hangin in. I appreciate you.
And, Happy Father’s Day to my big brother, a great dad, and a father figure to my son. You are literally the best. There’s just no words. Thanks for everything.
To the fathers in my life. You are loved and appreciated. Cheers!
