Thank you for reading!
Those are excellent points.
The issue is, respectfully; if there were an impartial admissions process … would 11-13 percent continue to be admitted period? I’m not as concerned about AAPIs getting admitted as readily without Affirmative Action, to be honest. I’m most worried about Black students.
In a nation that voted in Trump 6 years ago … I’m not sure I have the most confidence that when asked to “do the right thing,” with no checks or balances in place, that people in power will be capable of this. It’s so sad but true. If AAPIs did start killing the game admissions wise, would that be right? Where’s the equity in that for other groups of color who need a pathway to higher education?
I’m seeing the stats reported about Affirmative Action benefiting white people the most … but removing Affirmative Action and hoping another group dominates in its place isn’t necessarily the way to diversity either?
Thank you for reading and sharing. No easy answers, absolutely.
