Thanks for this piece.
I appreciate it very much.
Just wanted to highlight that transracial is actually a term coined by the adoption community. It is incorrect to use it for this type of context.
Transracial is defined as a person who was adopted into a white or mainstream family by way of capitalistic exploitation of Whites and European/American/Western systems of oppression.
Transracial adopted individuals and diasporas are therefore, forced to acculturate into the mainstream as a survival mechanism until able to liberate oneself from the “family.”
I’m adopted by white people and I was pretty pissed off that Rachel Dolezal was trying to highjack Black identity, capitalistically gain off it, try to spin it and make it seem like she was a victim
Because she’s a boring white girl who couldn’t come to accept herself, then topped it off by ripping off an entire diaspora of people of color who have ironically actually been fucked over by White systemic oppression she claims to fight against.
But is actually perpetuating.
That’s all. I just wanted to correct the term’s definition and use. Reclaim it from one more thing Rachel Dolezal is trying to make fit her selfish narrative.
Thanks.
