This was so practical and reasonable. I worked in our AAPI community throughout COVID as a social worker and I can really get behind the importance of good data. We are 20 sub groups in our minority group, and good data that is disaggregated is life saving. In IL we were grouped in with Native Americans, which when it came to COVID data, that could be so dangerous for Indigneous communities here because their social determinants of health are very unique compared to ours. It’s so important to get this good data and to get it analyzed in a culturally responsive way. Indeed it does save lives to understand the unique challenges different groups of people face and access to public health, the trust levels we all have, etc.
This was a great article and I’m very appreciative to all medical practitioners doing this good work in our communities. Thank you so much. You’re doing God’s work. 💜
