Transphobia, Banned Books, & Common Sense Gun Laws: Raising Kids Amidst a Bizarre, Ironic Political Landscape
I have no headline other than — huh? It’s hard to raise kids with this craziness on the Hill.
This weekend we watched with mixed emotions and so much pride as our oldest graduated from high school.
Members from the board of education got up to speak before the ceremony. One member got up and quoted Wanda Sykes in reference to honoring National Gun Violence Awareness and advocacy for common sense gun laws in America.
There were a couple things I noticed right away about my oldest one’s graduation this weekend. While the area is somewhat conservative, it has one of the strongest Black middle class populations in the nation. Like any community, the Black community is not a monolith. So at the beginning of the ceremony, it was very interesting to see who stood and who sat (and who knelt) for the Pledge of Allegiance.
